How does it work?
This is how it works.
In three simple steps, we’ll explain how to sign up for our panel, take part in studies, and receive your reward.

First, enter your personal details.
Then you’ll answer a few questions about yourself, such as your interests, subscriptions, and the gadgets you use. This helps us determine which studies are the best fit for you.
After signing up, you’ll officially be a member of Happy Panel!
Why do you want to know so much about me?
The more we know about you, the easier it is for us to determine whether you are a good match for a study. For example, if we run a study about car insurance and we know that you own a car, there is a higher chance that we will invite you. That’s why we sometimes ask for quite specific information.
What requirements do I have to meet to participate?
This differs per study. Each study has its own target group. By completing the questionnaire, we can determine whether you are suitable to participate in the study.
Will I always receive compensation?
Yes. If you participate in a study through us, you will always receive a reward. The amount of the reward will always be discussed with you in advance.
How much is the compensation?
Compensation usually range between €20 and €100. The exact amount depends on the type of study and how long it takes. For example, a shorter interview will have a lower reward than a longer one.
Are my travel costs reimbursed?
Yes. If the study takes place on location, we will also reimburse your travel costs. If you travel by public transport, we will reimburse the full amount. If you travel by car, you will receive €0.15 per kilometer. Parking costs will also be reimbursed. These costs will be transferred together with your participation reward.
Can I unsubscribe?
Every invitation we send you includes an unsubscribe link. If you choose to unsubscribe, we will delete all the data we have on you.
You take part
When we find a study that matches your profile, we’ll send you an invitation. First, you’ll answer a few quick questions about the topic to see if it’s a truly good fit.
The study could be an online survey, an interview, a test, or another way to share your thoughts on a product or service.
You can participate at a time that works for you—whether that’s at home, online, or on location. The invitation will always clearly state these details.
When will I receive my compensation?
We transfer the reward as soon as possible. It will be in your bank account within two weeks at the latest.
How will I receive my compensation?
The reward will be transferred to your bank account within two weeks after the study. We will use the bank account number you provided when confirming your participation.
What should I do if I haven’t received my compensation (yet)?
You can always contact us by email or phone. We will check what might have happened and help resolve it.
Which tools does Happy Panel use for online studies?
Online studies usually take place via your PC or laptop and sometimes via your smartphone. This depends on what the researcher wants to test. In some cases, you may need to download an app on your phone. For online research we use: Whereby (PC/laptop) Lookback (smartphone) UserZoom (smartphone)
What happens to my research data?
The interviews are analyzed by researchers. They review what participants say and do and translate this into insights. These insights help companies improve their websites, apps, or services so they better match the needs of their users. All results are processed completely anonymously. What you say or do will never be traceable back to you as an individual.
Receive your compensation
You’ll receive a cash payment, gift card, or another type of reward, depending on the study.
The reward will be paid within two weeks after participation, according to Happy Panel’s terms and conditions.

Do I have to pay tax on my compensation?
Yes, if you are a taxpayer in the Netherlands, the reward you receive for participating in a study is considered taxable income. The amount of tax you pay depends on your total income. Travel reimbursements are not taxable. You are responsible for reporting the reward in your annual tax return, in box 1 (income from work and home) under “Resultaat uit overig werk”. Happy Panel is legally required to report all paid rewards to the Dutch tax authorities each year.
