About Happy Panel
Happy Panel specializes in research on digital media. We conduct this research on behalf of, or in collaboration with, our clients.
We always conduct research with real users of the products we test. To determine if that’s you, we ask you a few questions. We use your answers to invite you to participate in studies. In addition, we show our clients (with anonymized profile information) why you are a suitable participant. Audio and video recordings may be made during studies to help us understand how a product or service can be further improved. You can read in detail below how we handle your data.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties or use it for marketing purposes.
When you sign up for our panel
It’s important for us to reach the right people for our studies. Therefore, we need to be able to trust the information you provide. By signing up, you agree that the information you provide is accurate. If your profile information is incorrect, we reserve the right to unsubscribe you or stop inviting you to studies.
Data we process and how we process it
Your full name, date of birth, and contact details are used for our administration and to contact you. We never share these with our clients.
Your first name, region, gender, age group, education level, daily routine, and other background information you provide (during sign-up or later, by phone or online) are used to determine which studies you qualify for and to show our clients why you are a suitable participant.
We track how often we invite you, for which studies, and how often you respond. This ensures everyone has a fair chance to participate. We also track which studies you have actually participated in to avoid double-booking.
For processing special personal data (e.g., sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, health, or political preference), we always request separate consent. This data is not stored in your profile and is kept for a maximum of three months after the relevant study.
When you respond to an invitation to participate
It’s important that we select the right people for each study. Therefore, we ask questions to determine if you belong to the target group. We must be able to trust the information you provide, so by registering for a study, you agree that your answers are accurate.
Data we process and how we process it
Your full name, date of birth, and contact details are used for our administration and to contact you. We do not share these with our clients.
Your first name, region, gender, age group, education level, daily routine, and other background information you provide during registration (by phone or online) are used to determine your suitability and to show our client why you are a suitable participant.
When you participate in a study
You will take part in a study by Happy Panel. You help us or our client map out the user-friendliness of a website, product, or service. You are not the subject of the study yourself. However, there are a few things you need to know and agree to before participating.
By accepting these terms, you agree that:
Audio and video recordings may be made during the study and used to present results to the client of Happy Panel;
Study results, supported by audio and video material, will be shared with the client after the study;
You may receive information during the study that has not yet been publicly released by our client. You must keep this confidential and not share it or use it otherwise.
How we handle your data
Happy Labs treats your personal data confidentially;
We do not share your name or address with third parties (including clients), unless necessary for practical reasons (e.g., providing access to the study location or materials);
Audio and video recordings are only used for the study and the presentation of results and are not further distributed or published.
Data we process and how we process it

If you receive a reward for participating, we ask for your name, address, city, and date of birth. This information is required to comply with legal obligations (e.g., informing the Dutch Tax Authorities about tax-free rewards).
To process payments, we ask for your bank account number and account holder name. Once the payment is successful, your bank details are anonymized in our systems.
We never share your full name, address, or contact details with third parties (including clients), except for practical reasons or legal obligations, and then only the minimum required.
Audio and video recordings are only used for the study and presentation of results, never further distributed or published.
